Colress. [He greets him with his name and a fond smile to announce his arrival, quickly closing the space between himself and the man's desk to stand in front of it.]
I would like to know what you have discovered.
no subject
Of course, zaShunina's as prompt as ever, so he hasn't actually finished clearing off his desk by the time he arrives. He lifts his gaze up from the drawer he was shoving some papers into, his smile just as fond.]
zaShunina, hello! Thank you for making some time for me among your studies. I have prepared a space to give my demonstration.
[He stands from his desk and places several Poke Balls on the now clean surface of it. Next, he holds out a small rectangular device for zaShunina to examine.]
I have learned a few things from Kado thus far, and I was particularly taken by its ability to store objects in a separate pocket of space. With the knowledge Kado has given me, I've been working on a prototype Colress Machine to produce a similar effect! I would like to demonstrate this device for you today.
no subject
I consent. I want to see it.
no subject
Most excellent! Then I shall not delay the demonstration further. Let us begin.
[He retrieves one last piece of the demonstration from his labcoat's pocket: a glove. It is fitted with thin metallic threads akin to skeletal bones running along the underside of the fingers, meeting at a disc in the center of the palm. It is possible to discern that this is a prototype that he intends to fit the final product into his wearable console.
He slips the glove onto his left hand, makes a few taps into the rectangular device, and holds his hand out over the Poke Balls. The central disc of his glove begins to glow, and the Poke Balls vibrate for a moment before slowly raising into the air toward the disc. Then, all of the sudden, they shoot up and disappear before they meet his hand directly.]
Rather than send them to a separate space within this plane, I have stored them nearby to be called back at any time, so long as I have the device with me.
Now that I'm recovered enough from surgery to even think about tags...
Yaha-kui zaShunina's face lights up as the Pokeballs apparently vanish from sight. Though existing in more than three dimensions at all times, he can still see them, but no human would be able to. They have effectively been moved outside of this space, into a location that only higher-dimensional entities can detect without special equipment.]
The rate at which you are able to comprehend and accept the anisotropic is exceptional. [His smile is genuine when he holds up a closed fist. Upon opening it, the Pokeballs Colress had used for his demonstration pop back into existence, floating slightly above his palm.] Colress, you are a premium human.

You have my utmost gratitude, zaShunina. I am beyond elated anytime I manage to get such a reaction from you.
[To see the typically stoic alien light up like that is more than enough of a delight. He's happy to see him have such a good time during a presentation.]
I have worked out a few more things from Kado, but that is certainly my favorite! I've desired such an ability since I started working with dimensions.
Let's assume this thread happens before the amphoria room, because I have ideas now.
As they presently exist, humans are only aware of a small fragment of themselves. [zaShunina lowers his floating hand only for it to vanish from sight as he is wont to do.] Though you lack awareness of it, the majority of you extends into higher dimensions. What mankind perceives as their entire world is merely a single cross-section of a greater existence. [He wishes he could show him.
...Then again, perhaps he can.
His eyes turn to the glove upon Colress's hand, a plan already formed in its entirety in his mind.] You are already beginning to gain a sense of these other cross-sections. It is how you learned from Kado.
sounds perf!
Is that what is happening...?
[He murmurs aloud as he reflects on his work with Kado. He of course has become aware of these greater existences particularly with thanks to zaShunina, but he didn't think such things extended to humans all along. Is this what allowed him to get this far in the first place?]
Did we ever have knowledge of these cross-sections at one point? Or has this ignorance persisted since our conception?
no subject
Mankind was never actively aware of it. The "parallel universe theory" is the closest humanity has come to conceiving of it, but that phrase is misleading. These cross-sections are not other universes, but simply a different direction within the same universe that you are ill-equipped to perceive. You exist within a Flatland, unaware of what exists to either side of you.
[And yet there's no judgment in his tone, no derision or patronization. It is simply a fact the same as water is wet.]
Yet despite being unable to perceive it, you have devised a way to access this imperceptible direction and move objects through it. This "ignorance", as you say, is not invariable.
no subject
Hah! When you put it that way, it almost sounds as if I am flying rather blind with my research. [Reaching forward into something he can't even see and all.] Of course, that isn't far from the truth. Still, this gives so much context to my work back home as well, and what was happening when Team Rainbow Rocket invaded our "dimension". It was cross-sections converging upon one another, if I am interpreting your words correctly...?

One of his detached hands retrieves a small stack of papers from nearby and sets it neatly upon the human's desk, taking the top sheet in hand.]
This is a model. To a two-dimensional entity living on the plane of a single sheet of paper, that page is its entire world. It can only move forward, backward, left, or right. [His fingertip draws the directions over the surface of the page as he speaks, then he slots the paper into the middle of the stack.] However, above and below it exist additional sheets of which it is entirely ignorant, as it lacks a concept of up or down. These sheets also possess their own two-dimensional entities with equal ignorance of the others.
[And then he touches the top of the stack, and his fingers phase through it without damaging any of the pages. Almost like it's "clipping" through the ream and penetrating down to the table beneath.]
Each page is a cross-section. They would be able to see my fingers as five separate objects, though these five objects would appear slightly different to each page. Humans are the same way. You can only see what is on your page, though this is but a fragment, and the rest of you extends to all the other pages, with gradual differences across them to form the whole.
no subject
You do such a fine job at lecturing. [That's entirely sincere. He sounds very appreciative about it! Thanks, zaShunina-sensei.] The way humans speak of other cross-sections is as alternate timelines or universes, as you said. I had come to refer to them as alternate dimensions with what knowledge I had at the time. Of course, to humanity at large, these concepts are considered entirely hypothetical, but never concretely confirmed. Thanks to you, I now have a better scope of the truth!
no subject
They are not alternate at all, but rather aspects. Extensions. Pieces of a singular existence. I am happy you understand.
no subject
With a nod,]
It is fascinating that the extensions of ourselves can end up living entirely different lives. Like one of them ending up here, for example! [He lets out a small chuckle at that.] And how grateful I am for that. Thank you once again for your teachings, zaShunina. This will make my studies much more focused from now on.
